The Advocate is operated by Melamu Tech Ventures, based in South Africa. This page sets out our subscription terms, how to cancel, and our refund policy in plain language.
The Advocate is a self-advocacy training platform. Free accounts get limited access to a small set of scenarios. A paid subscription unlocks full access to all law domains and scenarios for your country, for as long as your subscription is active.
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings, or by emailing us at the address below. Cancellation stops future billing — it takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep full access until then. We do not charge cancellation penalties.
Annual plans: If you're not satisfied, you can request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked. Email us within that window and we'll process it.
Monthly plans: Monthly payments are not refunded once processed, since you've had access to the full month of content. Cancelling simply stops the next month's charge.
Facilitator accounts: Billed monthly per seat. The same monthly policy applies — cancelling stops future billing; the current billing period is not refunded.
To request a refund, email support@theadvocate.co.za with your account email and the reason for the request. We aim to process eligible refunds within 5 business days.
Payments are processed securely by PayFast and/or Paystack, depending on your country. We never see or store your card details. All recurring billing and cancellation is handled by the payment processor's subscription engine.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify registered subscribers by email.
