The employer frames ethnic discrimination as a benign desire for community cohesion. This is a rationalisation. Excluding a qualified applicant because of their tribe — not their qualifications, character, or suitability for the role — is discrimination. No business interest in cultural homogeneity overrides the constitutional prohibition on tribal discrimination.
