The user is responding to an unsolicited SMS claiming a parcel is held for a fee. By asserting their rights, the user shifts from a victim to an informed citizen, forcing the scammer to reveal their lack of legitimate credentials.
The Fallacy

The scammer uses the threat of fines or returned parcels to bypass the victim's critical thinking. Under South African law, a legitimate courier must provide verifiable tracking and physical business details. Threats of immediate financial penalty for non-payment are hallmarks of fraudulent activity, not standard commercial practice.
