The Child Support Grant (CSG) is a monthly SASSA grant paid to the primary caregiver of a child who qualifies based on a means test. It supplements parental maintenance obligations.

Legal Definition

The Child Support Grant is a social assistance grant administered by SASSA under the Social Assistance Act 13 of 2004. The primary caregiver (not necessarily the parent) can apply. The grant amount is set annually. Both the caregiver and the child must meet means-test and citizenship criteria.
